What is trust, really?

10/31/10 Sunday, 10:29 AM

I love how between my friends, we talk behind each others' backs. We will say "don't tell her I told you, but..." and so no one ever knows who knows what. We each expect that only the people we tell will know, and that's what we see, because everyone else never lets on that they know! However, we've gotten so that we expect the others to know. We expect those we tell to pass on news to those they trust, and use good judgement as to who should know. I think it is only out of manners that we even pretend not to know something. Is this trust?

When I say "please don't tell (blank)," I expect never to hear about it from that person, unless I tell them later, which I probably will. Whether they know or not, I don't really care, as long as they don't react to it. It's common courtesy, isn't it? It is an interesting relationship between us, of gossip and maneuver and stalking. There are lies (white or black, they are still lies, are they not?) and feigned surprise on all three ends, perhaps, but that doesn't undermine my trust. I trust your good judgement, and that's what keeps our friendship strong. Paige, Pear, ^^.

Hey stalkers - if you don't have a blogspot/google account, please leave your name so I can get back to you, or just email me.
