When you walk into class, leave all of your luggage at the door. Whatever you're stressed about, let it go as we warm-up. As you roll through the knots in your shoulders, drop whatever it is you've been holding onto. Don't worry. It'll still be there when you've finished dancing, and maybe the break will let your mind see it from a new perspective.
But for now, it's time to dance. There's no space for anything else. Here, it doesn't matter who you are out there. It doesn't matter if you're young or old. Whether you live here or if you traveled a long way. Whether you're just starting out or if you're experienced. Here, where it's not your words but your actions that matter. Whoever you are out in the world, you're a different person now.
That's what this space is for. This space is for you to rest and to work. It's a space for you to practice confidence and courtesy, to achieve artistry, strength, and grace. And while the world outside may be a dumpster fire right now, you are always welcome here. Come inside, forget for a couple of hours, and dance.
