Prom

"Prom is a rite of passage." - Paige Robinson

"Some people spend more money on prom then at their weddings, because you only go to prom once, but you can get married multiple times."

A couple of years ago, Paige promised/threatened to drag me to prom. I never thought that I would have fun. I'd only been to one school dance before this: Winter Formal at IMSA, and it was loud and I would say that I did not have fun.

I almost spent all day getting ready for Prom. I got up at 7 to shower, and then my mom did my eyebrows. I never do any of this normally. At 9, my dad and I had a dentist appointment, and I ran to Whole Foods to get juice. Then around 12, we went to H-Mart to do my hair (my first time to a salon ever) and we curled it o.o and put it up ($40!!). That took about 1.5 hrs. Then I went to Anna's house to make salsa and guacamole, went home to get dressed and do make-up, and then took tons of pictures at home in my dress with my family. Then it was to Paige's for pictures, and to Flattop for dinner. We didn't take a limo, though. We'd already spent enough money.

I've never spent so much time on my appearance before, nor have I ever gotten so many comments on my appearance, from friends and strangers. Walking out of Flattop, someone even said "Congratulations" to me and Eric (which made me very happy). I may just keep the dress for my wedding. Even with all the compliments, though, I won't be going to any more daily effort to look nice. It's just good to know that when I do put in the effort, it works.

It was still loud, but it helps to be able to talk to people you love, and especially to dance with the person you love.
