Yesterday, I told you I was afraid.
And I asked you,
Isn't this a silly fear?
It sounds so stupid
When I put it that way, I said.
But you told me no,
It's not silly at all. You're scared, and
It makes sense, you said.
And I realized you were right,
I have every right to be scared.
And I'm not silly, or crazy,
Or unreasonable,
Though I almost convinced myself I was,
Because no one else believed
That there was anything to be afraid of.
But you believed,
And understood, and accepted-
Do you realize what a difference it makes?
Because I'm allowed to be afraid now,
I'm allowed to be afraid.
